Sandra, I'm in my mid-80s now. I have mobility challenges and work and learn from home. It's harder for me (and others in the same boat) to find ways to fight fascism. My strategy: learn as much as I can about it (its history, its current presence) and share that as widely as I am able. I'm currently using Substack (and in a lesser way, Facebook). My Substack work is a reading group: Guerrilla Readers. Here's the link (feel free to edit if you feel it's not appropriate to share): https://susanwittigalbert.substack.com/s/guerrilla-readers This is where I find my excitement and my energy in these dark days. Thank you for inviting this!

Good to know you are feeling better! Your life is so cool Sandra! No wonder you are full of joy and excitement and can't sleep. Can't wait to get caught up on all of the details of what is going on for you! In the past I found reading the phonebook could turn off my noodle. Or practicing a foreign language is also good.

I wonder where I could find a phone book. Preferably one of a place I've never been, otherwise I'd be searching or ol acquaintances. ha. No good practicing foreign languages for me! I'm too interested, and if I couldn't think of something I'd be sure to get up and look for it. I'm a mess! But I slept very well last night. Hoping for another good night tonight.

I have saved a few phone books from long ago that I use to lift things to a useful height on my work table. Like you, I have to be careful not to open a section that might interest me. Lists of doctors, lawyers etc. seem safe. I used to have 2 copies of early phone directories that were totally fascinating. One from NY City and the other from New Orleans! They were very entertaining!!!

With the languages I choose something I truly haven't a clue about and find just challenging enough, to give up on. : -) Love hearing that sleep is finding you.

Oh what an interesting collection! When I was young, I used to love looking at phone books from cities I had only dreamed of visiting. Greyhound was a great source in St. Louis.

So excited for you! I also can’t sleep when I get excited. It’s hard sometimes but it is a joy to feel excited about things.

Sandra, I hope you enjoy Palm Springs and that you are being fed and watered too. I imagine a producer sitting in the audience wanting to take Tennessee on the road (with you of course). I love the flower peeping through the crack in the concrete and you standing on a street corner, placard in hand. Writing this I have just been interrupted by a telephone call from The Guardian telling me that tomorrow they will be publishing a letter from me about herrings and unicorns and that it will go online tonight. Really chuffed for you. Fond regards 🐰Robert.

I rarely have sleepless nights thanks to melatonin. If I do, I get up and go outside if I can or read. I’m excited about restarting my accessible (chair) yoga class tomorrow. This is something I can offer for the rest of us that can’t make it to marches, etc., a way to distress. I find joy in my family and music.🎶
