I’m sorry about the loss of power. You sound so calm, reading on. Truly glad you are okay and moving into 80 with many of us cheering you on.

A belated happy birthday to you, Sandra. I read each word of your account of life without power in January with empathy and, yes (sorry), a smile. Your dedication to your hen is admirable and your grace in the face of injuries suffered in bed, the one place we all might think we would be safe, will stay with me. I will take to heart the dangers of headlamps and demanding animals when escaping the cold and dark with a good book. I hope all your cakes were wonderful and that you are feeling warmer both inside and out.

Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like it's going to be a party where everyone gets a gift -- simply lovely. I agree, too, that you looked great at 40 and still do. As you likely know from elisa, the mystery book group just read Janice Hallett's THE APPEAL, a modern take on the epistolary novels of the past. All I can say is, I loved it from beginning to end, reading all the source material of a court case (murder) made up almost entirely of pertinent emails and texts. I found it to be challenging, stimulating, and very energizing. That aside, again, happy birthday, and may your life only get (even) better from here on.

You're one of the least spoiled people I know. Good luck on making the food supply stretch until Wednesday. Not too far away, and great weather compared to the past few days.

I understand the fear of another outage. So many trees down already. But you now know that you can get through it , whether you think you're prepared or not. So there's that trust in yourself you can rely on. And I love "calm was about all I could be." Thanks for that. A good way to look at it all. xo

Wishing you a happy celebration Sandra and a very happy 80th birthday indeed! I'm with you on prayers for our intrepid electrical linemen and linewomen! They all deserve more recognition!!!! Love your 'Just do it!' to stay warm and bundled up until the power was back on. I am all for staying in bed when the power goes out. And a 👍for headlamps and coconut cake, too! 🎈🎁🎈🤩🎈🎁🎈

I posted an envelope to you today. First class of course. I hope it arrives by Saturday. I am, as you know, 80 in May, so I see you as a kindred spirit, and I share your birthday wish unreservedly. My son Owen will be 52 (yes you have guessed it) on the 26th and I don’t eat chicken and there is a story to tell there. You are a joy to read. I think I would have enjoyed your 40th birthday with your head of hair. Happy Birthday Sandra and plenty of cake. ❤️❤️🐰
