When I went to Palm Springs a few weeks ago, there were some very windy days. Dust blew, things got in my eyes, I rubbed them. A few days after I got back, I developed a stye on my right eye. That can happen if you rub your eyes, especially if your hands are dirty, or in my case if dirt is in your eye.
The doctor recommended warm compresses, and baby shampoo for my eyelids. The right eye got better after a few days. Then I got a stye in my left eye, then both eyes. This time the doctor added antibiotic ointment to be used twice a day after the shampooing of my eyelids.
After several days of treatment, the left eye was mostly better when suddenly the right eye was worse. Much worse. More painful, more swollen.
Next I hope to see the eye doctor again (I had seen the eye doctor a few days after the first eye was better, and they confirmed the stye). The styes are on the inside of the eyelid vs the outside. This means you can't see anything that looks like a pimple, which is what you can see when it's external.
All this to say: on top of the virus that's had me coughing all week, I haven't felt up to much. I did make it to choir rehearsal on Sunday, and guess what I found there? JOY. I couldn't sing very well, or with much breath, but I didn't cough a lot, and I was able to sing. And rehearsal with nearly 70 other queer people over age 55, is absolutely uplifting.
How have you found joy this week? What are you up to? I hope you haven't been affected by bad weather or bad people making bad decisions. I have hired some people to come work on our yard this coming week. I'm looking forward to enjoying my flowers even more when they're not being choked by this thick, tall, lush green incorrigible grass.
Sounds like you have a caring eye doctors. That is important. I use the warm compress treatment to sooth my eyes when I abuse them with over use. It helps my eyes and me to calm down. :-) Love that you have that choir to be part of. Sounds wonderful!! Do take care of yourself and your great set of peepers!
I’m glad you got an emergency appointment. I hope you have a driver, too. I love you, Sister.
