Here is a list of my favorites, and below is a link to a google doc of all the books and some words about each one. Favorite #1 Lily, by Kate Kasten. #2 The Dressmakers of Auschwitz by Lucy Adlington. #3 Gold for the Dead by Ann Aptaker. A novel, a non-fiction book, and a mystery.
In addition to the forty-seven books listed on the google doc, I’m nearly finished with the last book in the Cromwell Trilogy, for which I’ve done a year-long read with Simon Haisell here on Substack. I’m also reading the second volume of Anne Lister’s diaries. I might also read at least one more before December 31.
If you buy any of the books, and I encourage you to buy books if you can, please use bookshop.org because it supports independent bookstores.
Please feel free to leave your own list in comments, or ask questions, or share information, whatever is your wont.
Link to the books I read in 2025 is here.

How you cover so much reading with all of your other activities is a mystery to me!! But then I am a slow reader who mostly reads at the end of the day to slow down and disengage with the fast paced outer world. This said, I do from time to time happen on to books that hold my attention late into the night! Thank you for the link to your wonderful book list!
My favorites in recent months have been The Serviceberry and Braiding Sweetgrass - both by Robin Wall Kimmerer and The Light Eaters by Zoe Schlanger about current studies of how plants seem to communicate with one another and with other life forms. It is a long detailed read but nicely presented with lots of references to our part of the world. My cup of tea! :-)
Wishing you happiness and joy over these holiday weeks, Sandra!!! :-)
Season’s Greetings to you Sandra and many many happy days of reading, writing, singing and sewing during 2026 to name just a few of your many activities I know of! 🐰❤️❤️Robert
